Karin Lewis PhD

With over thirty years as a fitness practitioner and thirty five years as an educator, Karin has established herself as a well-respected teacher and fitness instructor in Connecticut.  Karin is the Group Exercise Director at the Mandell JCC Fitness Center at St. Francis.  She also instructs seniors at the Bishop’s Corner Senior Center in the area of exercise fitness.   She recently performed at the senior center as the lead Latin dancer in “Extravaganza”.

She is a West Hartford native, and she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree, along with a Certificate of Advanced Study, in the field of education.  She is a recent Summa Cum Laude graduate from University of Natural Health, receiving her doctorate in Philosophy of Holistic Natural Health and Healing.

In the past, Karin has competed in National Aerobic and Fitness Competitions.  She was also Walmart’s Teacher of the Year and instrumental in initiating the Unified Sports Program within the Town of Newington.  In 2018, she wrote a book entitled, “Movement For Optimal Health”, which incorporates the six areas of physical function:  balance, mobility, coordination, cognitive and emotional responses, muscle strength, and cardio fitness.
